Turkmen school students showcased national culture at the “Children of the Commonwealth” forum in Tajikistan
School students from Turkmenistan took part in the 11th International Cultural and Educational Forum “Children of the Commonwealth,” held in Tajikistan at the initiative of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. Turkmenistan was represented by students aged 14–17 from Ashgabat and the country’s regions, accompanied by experienced teachers from the capital.
One of the key highlights of the trip was “Turkmenistan Day.” The students prepared a large-scale presentation introducing their peers from nine CIS countries to the rich history, economic achievements, and tourism potential of their homeland.
Particular interest from the international audience was drawn to stories about Ahalteke horses, the art of carpet weaving, Alabai dogs, and the unique “smart city” of Arkadag. Poems by the great poet and thinker Magtymguly Pyragy were recited on stage, and the program concluded with the famous folk dance “Kushtdepdi.”
The forum program was rich and beneficial for youth development. As part of the official agenda, the delegation visited the Parliament of Tajikistan, where the Speaker of the Majlisi, Fayzali Idizoda, spoke to the students about the country’s system of governance.
Participants also took part in an intellectual olympiad, workshops with folk artists, and meetings with Olympic champions. In engineering sessions, students explored the scientific heritage of the East and the basics of modern robotics.
The cultural program included visits to major landmarks of the host country, such as the “Istiklol” architectural complex, the “Kohi Navruz” palace, and the National Museum of Tajikistan, helping to strengthen friendships and broaden the horizons of the younger generation.
