The President of Turkmenistan Gave Instructions to the Government to Prepare for Key Events of the Year


Speaking at an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers to review the first half of the year, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov gave a satisfactory assessment of the country's economic indicators. The head of state reported that during the reporting period, 18.6 billion manat in capital investments were utilized under the Investment Program (an increase of 4.3%), and 309,000 square meters of housing were commissioned. At the same time, key emphasis was placed on the large-scale international and domestic political events planned for the second half of this year.
International Focus and High-Level Summits
The second half of 2026 will be filled with major diplomatic events. The President of Turkmenistan has instructed that the flawless organization of a number of international forums be ensured.
The Avaza National Tourist Zone is scheduled to host a Summit of Heads of State and other key rounds of interstate dialogue. Particular attention will be paid to preparations for the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, which aims to strengthen economic and logistical partnership in the region.
As part of Turkmenistan's chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Ashgabat will host the next meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council at the highest organizational level.
Convening the Khalk Maslakhaty and State Awards
The central domestic political event of the fall will be the next session of Turkmenistan's Khalk Maslakhaty, traditionally timed to coincide with Independence Day celebrations. The highest representative body of people's power will summarize the development of the sovereign state and identify long-term goals for the future.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need for the timely formation of an Organizing Committee for the convening of the Khalk Maslakhaty. The new Organizing Committee, together with the Mejlis, the Cabinet of Ministers, khyakimliks, and relevant agencies, will determine the exact date, location, and agenda of the upcoming session. Furthermore, the head of state instructed the Organizing Committee to pay special attention to the organizational work of selecting and nominating citizens who have made significant contributions to the country's success for state awards and honorary titles.
Discussion of Results and Summer Vacations for Executives
Summing up the half-year results, the head of state ordered the heads of all ministries and departments to hold detailed internal meetings on July 11 to review their work.
Following the completion of the current campaigns, starting August 1, government members and department heads are permitted to take annual vacations. Turkmen executives will use domestic sanatoriums and the resort infrastructure of the Avaza National Tourist Zone as their vacation spots. The exception is the heads of the agro-industrial complex and regional governors, who will continue to work on-site due to the peak of the seasonal agricultural campaigns.
