Turkish dancers to trace the footsteps of the Great Silk Road


The largest dance groups of Turkey “Fire of Anatolia” plans to visit Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and China as part of their new art project “Silk Road”.
The premiere of the program will take place in Antalya in July. The general art director and chief choreographer of the group, Mustafa Erdogan, told about the goals of the project in an interview with Anadolu Agency. According to the idea, the artists will make a journey following the footsteps of the ancestors, will trace the trade routes along which the Turks reached and settled in Anatolia.
Details have not yet been disclosed, but according to Erdogan's plan, the show, designed to vibrantly narrate about the history of the great Silk Road from ancient times till the present, should also reflect the original cultures of those countries located along the route. The producers have tried to blend the musical subtleties of these nations into the overall choreographic picture, and to strengthen the focus, by involving local dancers into the performances.
According to the head of the “Fire of Anatolia”, the project promises to become a multinational, colorful sight, organically combining elements of cultural diversity of the peoples of China, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
“Fire of Anatolia” dance group, for the first time appeared at the world stages in 2002, outnumbers all existing groups. It main staff includes 120 dancers. The concept of the group is the mosaic of modern dances, ballet and folk dances.
The history of their tours totals 45 million spectators and more than 100 countries. “Fire of Anatolia” holds two Guinness world records, one – for the fastest dance performance with 241 steps per minute, and the second one for the largest audience of 400,000 spectators in Eregli.
