Rare bird from Arabian Peninsula finds shelter for summer time in Central Asia

The Environment Society of Oman (ESO) has discovered that several birds of prey, tagged in the framework of international ornithologist program, spent their summer time in Central Asia, reports Times of Oman.
Two steppe eagles, tagged in January last year, during the summer time made stops in Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan.
The tracked birds migrated also in and via such countries as Iraq, Iran and spent their summer period in Central Asia.
The tagging program is carried our jointly by ESO, Institute for Avian Research and the Raptor Research Foundation since 2014.
In recent decades, the number and natural habitat area of the steppe eagle, regarded as symbols of the Eurasian steppe landscapes, has decreased significantly. The world population of the species is estimated at 35-60 thousand pairs.
