Ashgabat Presented the Agenda of the Khalk Maslakhaty (People's Council) at the CIS Headquarters in Minsk

On August 25, a meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS Member States was held in Minsk with the participation of CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev. In accordance with the proposal of the Embassy of Turkmenistan, the meeting's agenda included key events on Ashgabat's domestic political calendar.

Turkmenistan's Plenipotentiary Representative, Ambassador Nazarguly Shagulyev, briefed the participants in detail on preparations for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the country's state independence, as well as the upcoming Khalk Maslakhaty meeting on September 23. It was emphasized that the national forum will identify the main vectors of the country's socioeconomic development, and the policy of positive neutrality will continue to serve as a reliable foundation for constructive regional cooperation.

In parallel, diplomats worked to develop the agenda for the meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council, which will take place in Moscow in December. The prime ministers will review a package of documents on developing cooperation in industry, innovation, fundamental science, ecology, and the humanitarian sphere, including tourism and the Commonwealth Film Festival. The permanent representatives also discussed the development of the organization's external relations under the new CIS Observer and Partner statuses. A separate topic was the promotion of the "CIS Plus" format, which has already resulted in the granting of observer status to the SCO and opened up new opportunities for dialogue with other international organizations.
