A Public Event to Introduce Koreans to Central Asian Culture Was Held in Seoul
A series of public events has kicked off in Seoul to mark the historic First Korea-Central Asia Summit, scheduled for September 16, 2026. On Wednesday, the Preparatory Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea organized a large-scale cultural festival at Cheonggye Square under the symbolic slogan "Meeting Along the Silk Road."
According to the South Korean news outlet DWB News, the event aims to introduce residents and visitors to Seoul to the heritage of the countries of the region—Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
At a specially equipped venue, visitors tried on traditional costumes, participated in themed quizzes, and learned about the heartfelt culture of oriental tea drinking, a hallmark of Central Asian hospitality.
Head of the Preparatory Office and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Chung Eui-hae emphasized that the upcoming diplomatic forum in Seoul will be a crucial milestone not only for interstate dialogue but also for expanding humanitarian and youth contacts.
