Turkmenistan Launches National Road Safety Month
With the start of the new school year, when city streets fill with thousands of schoolchildren and students, the issue of road safety takes on special significance. September in Turkmenistan traditionally becomes a time for the entire society to unite its efforts: the national month of "Road Safety – Peace of Our Lives" was launched by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry. However, the official launch of the campaign conceals a much deeper and more humane meaning: the development of an interdepartmental environment where human life, mutual respect, and the awareness of each road user are the most important values.
The initiative spans all regions of the country and unites key government and public institutions—from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Education to the State Sports Committee and youth organizations. This comprehensive approach allows us to look at the problem not through the prism of banal prohibitions, but through the creation of a modern culture of behavior. Road safety is no longer a purely technical term and is becoming an integral part of social responsibility – for both drivers behind the wheel and pedestrians at intersections.
The month places a special emphasis on the younger generation. Instead of formal lectures, schools and kindergartens are being transformed into interactive educational environments: special training grounds and traffic playgrounds are being set up, where children can playfully master navigation skills in real city traffic. Visual displays, practical exercises, and industry conferences help instill correct behavior patterns from an early age, turning compliance with traffic rules into a natural habit rather than a forced obligation.
Throughout September, informational, educational, and sports events will be held across the country. Their main goal is to remind every citizen that road safety begins with personal choice. Protecting children on the way to school, being considerate of elderly pedestrians, and avoiding risky driving—these simple, everyday manifestations of high culture contribute to the overall peace, safety, and harmony of our lives.
