A delegation from Turkmenistan is participating in the 9th One Health World Congress, which is taking place from September 4 to 7 in the Portuguese capital. At this major international forum, which brought together experts, scientists, and government representatives from around the world, Arslan Soltanmyradov, Head of the Department of International and Scientific Relations and National Coordinator for the Implementation of the One Health Approach at the State Veterinary Service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, spoke at a specialized session, presenting the country's experience in developing intersectoral collaboration in biological and environmental security.

The One Health approach discussed in Lisbon reflects a modern scientific concept, according to which human well-being cannot be considered in isolation from the health of animals and the environment. In practice, this means combining the efforts of medical professionals, veterinarians, ecologists, and agronomists to prevent common threats. The creation of such a unified monitoring system makes it possible to identify dangerous infections and zoonotic diseases at the very stage of their emergence in animals, prevent the spread of antibiotic resistance through food chains, and minimize the risks posed by climate change.

For Turkmenistan, participation in such a high-level forum represents another practical step in integrating national epidemiological and veterinary surveillance mechanisms into the global healthcare system. Developing interagency cooperation and implementing international biosafety standards not only guarantees reliable protection of public health and the preservation of ecosystems but also strengthens the sustainability of the agricultural sector, contributing to the long-term economic and environmental well-being of the country.
