Kaçkar by UTMB 2026 International Mountain Ultramarathon Will be Held in Türkiye for the Second Time

From September 11 to 13, the Kaçkar by UTMB International Ultramarathon will be held in the mountainous Çamlıhemşin district of Rize Province. The prestigious trail-running competition, part of the UTMB World Series, is organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye and the Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA).

This year’s race, held under the motto “Wild Trail,” is expected to be even larger, with more than 2,000 athletes from 60 countries taking part. By comparison, the inaugural race last year attracted 1,878 athletes from 59 countries, as well as tens of thousands of spectators.

The race route passes through the untouched landscapes of the Kaçkar Mountains, along roaring waterfalls, dense forests, green plateaus and high-altitude valleys. Participants will have to overcome challenging natural terrain requiring not only exceptional physical fitness but also strong mental resilience.

In addition to the sporting challenge “above the clouds,” the ultramarathon offers participants and visitors a unique opportunity to experience the traditional hospitality and rich culture of Türkiye’s Black Sea coast.

Hosting an event of this level further strengthens the region’s status as a global center for sports tourism and attracts outdoor and active-travel enthusiasts from around the world.
