Stars of world sport see good prospects of Turkmen boxing
The third day of the Championship of Turkmenistan was marked by the fact that the WBA and IBF Champion Denis Lebedev, Olympic Champion Oleg Saitov, World Champion in Mixed Martial Arts Oleg Taktarov, who were accompanied by the Vice President of the International Amateur Boxing Association and the President of the Asian Confederation of Boxing Serik Konakbayev!
However, the unquenchable stars of world sports did not come for fights, but addressed with good wishes to the participants, spectators and organizers of an interesting, in their view, tournament. They noted both the high level of skill of our boxers, and the objectivity of refereeing, expressing admiration for this attitude to sport from the side of the leader of Turkmenistan.
Then semifinal fights of the Championship of Turkmenistan in boxing took place. The winners of the day's game reached the final of the tournament, where they will be able to compete for the title of the champion of Turkmenistan in boxing and join the national team for the 2018 Summer Asian Games in the Indonesian city of Jakarta.
The first to compete in the final was women in the weight category up to 48 kg. The most impressive duel was between the representative of the Balkan region Govher Begdzhanova and the resident of the capital Gulshat Polatova.
Begdzhanova took active tactics of combat, focusing on applying fast, but weak attacks. Polatova led the fight more prudently, reflecting the rival's attacks and accompanying them with powerful counterattacks. After a series of accurate punches in the third round, Polatova defeated her opponent on points and became the first finalist of the Championship.
The second ticket to the final was won by Shahrizada Merdanova from the Lebap region, who defeated rival from the northern region of the country Gulhumar Atabayeva.
Then came the fights among women in the weight category up to 54 kg. The most spectacular was a duel between the representatives of the Lebap region Selbi Kuvusheva and Govher Khamrayeva. Selbi led a series of irresistible punches, sending the opponent a knockdown in the first round. Despite this Govher managed to continue the fight, but soon the coaching staff of the sportswoman decided to suspend the fight, leaving victory for Kuvusheva. Chemen Durdyklycheva, representative of the Dashoguz region, overpowering her opponent Guljeren Saparova from Ashgabat, reached the final also.
Next were the fights among men in the lightest weight category - up to 49 kg. Dzhabar Meleyev from the Lebap region and Dayanch Annaseyidov from Ashgabat came together in a dynamic duel for the opportunity to fight for the Championship’s gold.
Quickly moving around the ring, the elusive boxers inflicted on each other sharp but not very strong attacks. In this kind of fights, everything is decided by a high tempo, which at the end of the second round was slowed down by Annaseyidov, who began to miss the strong punches of the opponent. As a result, boxer from Ashgabat lost a ticket to the final to the favor of Meleyev.
Begench Anageldyev from the Lebap region, who defeated Omar Hajiyev from the Balkan region, got the opportunity to compete for gold also.
In the weight category up to 52 kg, one duel between the Ashgabat boxers took place. Mergen Melyaev, who surpassed Sokhbet Gokdjaev in his mastery, reached the final.
The first fight in the category up to 56 kg, where the boxer from the capital Begench Alimov almost knocked out the namesake from Mary region Begench Myratgulyev, was admirable a lot. Myratgulyev tried to continue the fight bravely, but the coaches, understanding the unequal chances, decided to give victory to his opponent.
In the same weight category, the resident of the capital Yakub Meredov, who defeated a rival from the Lebap region Zarip Achilov, was another winner.
In the weight category up to 60 kg, Begmyrat Khalmyradov from Ashgabat mastered compatriot Khursend Imankuliyev.
In the next fight in the same category, finalist of last year's Championship of Turkmenistan in boxing Arslan Urunov from the Lebap region lost the boxer from Ashgabat Yazmyrat Gurbanov, who conducted the fight confidently, having initiative until the final bell.
Then began a series of fights in the weight category up to 64 kg, where only the representatives of the capital fought for the right to reach the final. Togrulbek Pazzyev defeated Zufar Saparbayev due to the high accuracy of the punches, and Muhammet Berdyev defeated Shokhrat Durdiyev with a slight advantage on points.
Fights in the category up to 69 kg were also “smooth”. Serdar Amangeldiyev from Ashgabat overcame the representative of the Lebap team Bagtyyar Jorayev. With a slight advantage, the fighter from Dashoguz Timur Tajimov, who overpowered Muhammetmyrat Sahedov from the capital, reached the final also.
The boxers Maksat Geldinazarov from Ashgabat and Resul Yoldashev from Dashoguz, who were in the weight category up to 75 kg, are failed due to defensive tactics and inability to inflict tangible attacks to the opponents. As a result, residents of the capital Nursakhet Pazzyev and Aziz Achilov, overpowering in these duels their opponents, reached the final of the Championship.
The first fight in the category of 81 kg was quickly completed. Nuryagdy Nuryagdyev, boxer from Ashgabat, with one powerful hook deprived his fellow citizen Yazmukhamet Orazov of the opportunity to continue the fight, who was unable to fully recover and continue the fight.
“On an equal footing” was a duel between representative of the Dashoguz region Ustabek Samandarov and boxer from Lebap region Mammet Altyev, but a resident of the northern region received a slight advantage on points.
Quick as lightning was the victory of Aslanbek Achilov from the Lebap region, who at the first seconds of the fight in the weight category up to 91 kg sent a knock-down opponent Meylis Yeshmiyev from the Balkan region, whose seconds decided to stop the fight immediately.
Shokhrat Khodjanepesov from Lebap region’s team and resident of the capital Armen Pogosyan fought equiponderant in the same weight category up to the last gong. As a result, with a slight advantage on the points, Khodjanepesov became the winner.
The superheavyweights came together in the “cautious” fight. In the weight category over 91 kg the resident of the capital Baky Toychiyev with a small advantage overcame Shohrat Pirimanov from the Lebap region.
The last fight of the day in this category became the complete opposite of the last but one, where representatives of the Ashgabat team Tejen Hommadov and Atajan Nurgeldiyev fought at the rapid pace, attacking each other with steel strikes, for the opportunity to reach the final.
Having sent Hommadov to a knockdown in the first round, Nurgeldiyev continued to inflict mighty punches on his opponent in the second round also. For some time Hommadov pulled himself together and even conducted a series of retaliatory attacks, but then the opponent again dealt a heavy punch to him, after which he could not continue the fight.
Nurgeldiyev reached the final after the referee announced his victory by technical knockout.
