President of Turkmenistan Meets with Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea


As part of the official program of his state visit to the Republic of Korea, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met on September 15 with Speaker of the National Assembly of Korea, Cho Jeong-sik. The discussions focused on priorities for bilateral cooperation and the deepening of inter-parliamentary dialogue.
According to South Korean media reports, during the conversation, the head of the Korean parliament expressed support for Turkmenistan’s "Revival of the Great Silk Road" initiative, which aims to transform the country into a key transport and logistics hub in Eurasia.

It was emphasized that the Korean legislature is ready to facilitate the practical alignment of Seoul’s technological capabilities with Turkmenistan’s vast resource potential to achieve tangible economic results.
The meeting also highlighted positive trends in cultural and humanitarian ties and academic exchanges. These developments have been facilitated by the launch of direct air service between Ashgabat and Seoul, as well as growing interest in Korean culture and language within the region.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated that Ashgabat attaches great importance to the comprehensive development of relations with South Korea. The Head of State emphasized the institutional role of the two countries' parliaments in strengthening mutual trust and expressed support for expanding contacts between the legislative bodies.
