President of Turkmenistan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, has signed a decree and a corresponding order regarding the discharge of military personnel who have completed their term of service and the scheduled conscription of citizens for military duty.
In accordance with the head of state's decree, conscripts who have fully fulfilled their military obligations will be discharged from the Armed Forces, other military branches, and military agencies of Turkmenistan between October and December 2026.
Concurrently, during this period, male citizens who have reached the age of 18 by the time of conscription and do not qualify for an exemption or deferment, as well as citizens under the age of 27 who are no longer eligible for a deferment, will be called up for military service. The document enters into force upon its publication.
To implement this legal act, the President of Turkmenistan signed an order instructing the heads of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of National Security, the State Border Service, the Presidential Security Service, and the State Migration Service to ensure that the discharge of military personnel takes place in a ceremonial atmosphere. In line with discharge plans, special commendations are to be awarded to personnel who have excelled in combat training and socio-humanitarian studies.
