Turkmenistan Team Wins Four Medals at Sambo World Cup in Dushanbe
The Turkmenistan national team won four medals at the Sambo World Cup held on September 19–20 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Over the course of the two-day competition, representatives from Turkmenistan secured one gold and three bronze medals. The awards were won in both sport sambo and combat sambo.
Results of Turkmen Athletes
On the first day of the tournament, September 19, Sapar Dovletov won a bronze medal in the men's sport sambo competition in the under-71 kg weight category.
On September 20, Turkmen athletes added three more medals to their tally.
In men's Combat Sambo, Abdylla Nazargeldiyev took third place in the under-88 kg weight category, while Malikberdi Begiyev won bronze in the over-98 kg category.
In women's Sport Sambo, Ykbal Saparova won the gold medal in the under-50 kg weight category.
International lineup
The World Cup in Dushanbe brought together national teams from Australia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Honduras, Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and other countries.
Athletes competed in three disciplines: Sport Sambo, Combat Sambo, and Sambo for visually impaired athletes. The events included competitions for both men and women.
In total, the Turkmenistan team concluded the Dushanbe World Cup with four medals, including Ykbal Saparova's championship title.
