A single Ministry of Education and Science was established in Uzbekistan

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on a large-scale reorganization of the country's education system. The Ministry of Preschool and School Education was merged with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations into a single Ministry of Education and Science.
The main goal of the reform is to build a unified and consistent management system for the sector, ensuring the continuity of education from kindergartens to universities and research institutes. The merged agency takes full control of preschool, school, vocational, and higher education, as well as scientific activities and innovations.
As part of the changes, personnel appointments have already taken place: Ilhom Siradjew, who previously worked in the Presidential Administration on education reform issues, has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Education and Science for compliance and internal anti-corruption control.
The creation of a single ministry will eliminate departmental barriers, harmonize curricula, and improve the quality of personnel training across the country.
