Ashgabat and Moscow Sign Foreign Ministry Consultation Program for 2027–2028


Talks took place in the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone between Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. The key practical outcome of the meeting—held on the sidelines of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers session—was the signing of a consultation plan between the two countries' foreign policy agencies for 2027–2028.
The ministers reviewed key areas of the bilateral agenda, reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening ties within the framework of an enhanced strategic partnership. Discussions focused on intensifying cooperation through the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, as well as expanding ties in the cultural, humanitarian, and educational spheres.
The foreign ministers confirmed their readiness for close coordination on major international and regional platforms. Particular emphasis was placed on multilateral dialogue within the CIS, the "Russia–Central Asia" format, and cooperation among the Caspian littoral states. The talks were held in an atmosphere of traditional trust and constructiveness, demonstrating a shared approach to addressing key regional security and development challenges.
