Turkmen sambo wrestlers are prize-winners of the Open Championship of Belarus


Turkmen sambo wrestlers Ismail Yusupov, Abdylla Babayev, Ruslan Yusupov and Shatlyk Charyev became prize-winners of the Open Championship of the Republic of Belarus on Sambo for prizes of the President of the Republic of Belarus.
Turkmen athletes won four awards of different value in total.
On the first day of the competition, Ismail Yusupov, who performed in the weight category up to 52 kg, took second place in sambo duels, having won a silver medal.
On February 17, another Turkmen athlete Abdylla Charyev, who distinguished himself in combat sambo competitions, won the silver medal in the weight category up to 74 kg,
The members of the National Federation of Martial Arts of Turkmenistan Ruslan Yusupov (62 kg) and Shatlyk Charyev (74 kg) became bronze medalists of the Championship in combat sambo competitions.
The teams from 19 countries gathered in Belarus. Turkmenistan was represented by 18 sportsmen in classical and combat sambo.
Organizers call the Championship a “forge of sports talents”, as its young participants, who had the experience in such international competitions, gained other podiums around the world.
Among them are sports stars of Turkmenistan, namely, Gulbadam Babamuratova, Zukhra Madraimova etc.
Having become prize-winners of these competitions in the past, today they have achieved the highest results in other international competitions, including the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which with great success were held in Ashgabat last September.
