South African Ambassador Presents Credentials to Speaker of Turkmen Parliament

On October 31, acting on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Chairperson of the Mejlis (Parliament), Dunyagozel Gulmanova, received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of South Africa, Lungisani Dominic Ntombela.
During the meeting at the national parliament, the head of the Mejlis conveyed congratulations to the ambassador and wished him success in his new, high-responsibility role. The two sides discussed key areas of interstate dialogue, the structure of legislative activity, and Turkmenistan’s peace-oriented initiatives aimed at ensuring global stability. Particular emphasis was placed on developing multilateral engagement within the framework of the United Nations and other major international institutions.
A day earlier, the South African Ambassador (who is based in Astana) met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Ahmed Gurbanov, and presented copies of his credentials. The parties examined in detail the prospects for intensifying political dialogue and high-level engagement, and held a substantive discussion on a proposal to establish an inter-parliamentary friendship group.
