Hydrogen Energy and the Circular Economy Take Center Stage at Meeting Between Turkmen Ambassador and Japanese Vice-Minister

Atadurdy Bayramov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan, held talks with Akiko Ikuina, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan. The meeting in Tokyo served as a further step toward the practical implementation of agreements reached during discussions between the President of Turkmenistan and the Prime Minister of Japan in December 2025, as well as the visit of Japan’s Foreign Minister to Ashgabat in August 2026.
The diplomats reviewed a roadmap for bilateral cooperation covering trade, investment, energy, science, and education. Particular emphasis was placed on high-tech and environmentally focused areas, including the promotion of hydrogen energy projects, the integration of artificial intelligence, comprehensive digitalization, and the development of a circular economy.

The constructive dialogue reaffirmed the mutual interest of Ashgabat and Tokyo in expanding inter-parliamentary and cultural-humanitarian ties, as well as continuing their long-standing tradition of mutual support within international organizations.
