Papa-New Guinea to debut at the Asian Games in Ashgabat
The team of nine athletes from Papua New Guinea will present their country for the first time at the Games "Ashgabat 2017".
Six weightlifters – sisters Dika Toua and Thelma Toua, Lorraine Harry, Morea Baru, Steven Kari and Toua Udia, as well as three swimmers - Leanard Kalate, Ryan Maskelyn, Ashley Seeto will compete under the flag of PNG.
The Memorandum on the participation of Oceania in the V Asian Indoor and Martial Games was signed in November 2014 by the President of Turkmenistan, head of Olympic Council of Asia and president of Oceania National Olympic Committees. According to the document, along with athletes from 45 Asian countries, for the first time in Asian Games history, 17 Oceania countries will join this major sport event.
