New outlines of the TAPI project defined


The key issues of the project implementation have been agreed upon at the 25th meeting of the Steering Committee for the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India Gas Pipeline held on Thursday, February 22nd, the information program "Vatan" of the Turkmen State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company reports.
The implementation stages and work schedule were approved in the city of Mary, in the presence of high-ranking delegations of the TAPI member countries and the Asian Development Bank.
Having outlined new contours and presenting specific goals, the countries intensify coordination of activities, directing them to the soonest implementation of the project.
Also, delegates focused on the financial side of the construction of the gas pipeline, indicating the need to select a financial advisor for TAPI and discussing the possibilities for attracting additional investments.
Being a highly profitable project, TAPI is interested in companies from all over the world. A competent approach to concluding financial agreements and providing objective information to investors about the construction of the main gas pipeline are the main factors for its success.
During the meeting, information was provided on the work done by TAPI Pipeline Company Limited as the main contractor of the project, technical and legal aspects of its implementation were discussed, and a schedule of future meetings on TAPI was approved.
The first connection weld and the initiation of the Afghan section of the pipeline scheduled for February 23rd is a landmark event in the progress of the TAPI project. Therefore, today's discussion provided an opportunity not only to agree on practical issues, but also to feel the importance of the historical moment in the life of the region.
