Turkmen billiard player, Honored Master of Sports Annamammet Annamammedov, performing in Moscow in the World Cup, took the third place in the discipline "Free Pyramid" (or as it is also called "American"). These victories ensured him a place in the 1/16 finals, where he was expected by an experienced (but underestimating Annamammedov) rival - Dmitry Belozersky from Nikolayev. As a result, the Turkmen billiard player managed to outplay the Ukrainian master of sports of international class with the score of 6: 4. Subsequent rivals in 1/8 and 1/4 were lower ranked (candidates for master of sports), but seriously set to win. It's Russian Anatoly Dmitriev from Orenburg and Belarusian Denis Kolosov from Kalinkovichi. The results speak for themselves, especially the quarterfinal duel, in which Annamammet barely defeated his opponent with a minimal advantage - 6: 4 and 6: 5. But the Turkmen could not advance further to the semi-final - he was completely outplayed by the master of sports from Kazan Maxim Kochkin, depriving any hopes for a higher place. ... It should be noted that in Turkmenistan there have always been fans of billiards, but this kind of sport developed mostly spontaneously. There were clubs and establishments where fans of this game flocked, but the sports authorities viewed billiards, in comparison with other sports disciplines, as a "child without an eye".
All turned upside down overnight, as soon as the Turkmen capital was declared the city of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. Moreover, billiards entered the program of the Ashgabat Games. Here, then, the officials started to move, having begun to seek out those who could adequately represent the hosts of the Asian Games.
And then attention and subsequent prosperity has rained on the heads of Turkmen billiards players: foreign fees, foreign mentors, international tournaments. As a result - very quickly, in several years, managed to prepare a good team of gifted guys for the Asian Games. Among them was Annamammet Annamamedov from the administrative center of the south-eastern region of the country.
He also defended the billiard honor at the Games of Ashgabat-2017, winning medals and the love of numerous fans and spectators, which at their age is much more important.
Annamammet then earned gold and bronze medals, having beaten Alikhan Karaneev, the two-time world champion, the Kremlin Cup winner, the champion of Asia, etc., on the way to the golden "top" on the podium. etc.
Soon it will be half a year since the Ashgabat Asiad passed, but the impetus that it gave to the development of sport in the country will still make itself felt.
