Annual Turkmen-Iranian trade turnover amount to US $ 1 bln with positive balance in favor of Turkmenistan
Turkmen-Iranian trade turnover reached the level of US $ 1 billion in 2017. The statement was made commercial attaché of Iranian embassy to Turkmenistan Rahmatollah Khormali during the remarks at the closing ceremony of 14th Specialized exhibition of IRI in Ashgabat.
For the period of from 21 March 2017-21 February 2018, corresponding to eleven months of Iranian calendar, the amount of Turkmen export to IRI exceeded US $ 600 million and the import from neighbor country was registered at the level of US $ 400 million. The indicators prove the positive balance of trade in favor of Turkmenistan.
However, as it was clear from bilateral business forum, separate meetings and negotiations, held on the sidelines of the expo, the parties are ready for further building up the mutually beneficial trade relations.
The keen interest of Iranian business circles for blooming economy of Turkmenistan is evidenced by the fact that thuis year Iran sent twenty companies more for exclusive exhibition. More than 60 Iranian companies displayed their potential in such areas as fuel-energy, construction, petrochemical industry, agriculture, food industry, technical and engineering services.
Over the past three-four years, Iran has steadily held the third position in the foreign trade rating of Turkmenistan. In the total volume of goods, exported to the southern neighbor, the main share belongs to petroleum products, electricity, textiles.
In turn, Iran exports to Turkmenistan fruits and vegetables, construction materials, ferrous and non-ferrous metal items, plastics, ceramics, and vehicles.
