Kazakhstan is ready to increase the volume of imports of Turkmen gas to one and a half billion cubic meters per year. This was stated by Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev at a briefing for media representatives after the negotiations held on Saturday in Akorda.

"Our companies QazaqGaz and Turkmengaz have signed a contract for the import of Turkmen gas. I express my gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for his personal support in promoting this project. We are interested in concluding a long–term agreement and are ready to increase the volume of gas imports to one and a half billion cubic meters per year," the words of the head of Kazakhstan are quoted on Akorda's website.

Tokayev also announced Kazakhstan's intention to participate in the implementation of major energy initiatives of Turkmenistan, exchange experience and develop mutually beneficial projects in the field of gas processing and gas chemistry.
