The strategy of the chemical industry development in Turkmenistan is focused on the maximum use of domestic raw materials – the country ranks fourth in the world in terms of natural gas reserves and one of the leading positions in terms of hydromineral raw materials: intercrystal and surface brines of Garabogazgol Bay, as well as underground iodine-bromine waters. The task of the chemical industry is the effective use of hydrocarbon raw materials in the interests of the country and the international community," said Niyazly Niyazlyev, Chairman of the Turkmenchimiya Group of Companies, speaking on the sidelines of the Ashgabat Oil and Gas Conference.

He gave a detailed overview of the corporation's activities and projects carried out in the country in recent years, currently being implemented, and also spoke about new ones, the launch of which is planned for the near future. Over the past 4 years, large chemical facilities have been put into operation in Turkmenistan – a plant for the production of ammonia and urea in Garabogaz, a polymer production plant in Kiyanli, as well as a plant for the production of gasoline from natural gas in Ovadandep.

Currently, the second stage of projects in the gas chemical complex is being prepared, in which it is planned to invite representatives of leading Japanese companies to participate. It 's about about the ammonia and urea production plant in Garabogaz – the new enterprise is designed to produce 660 thousand tons of ammonia per year and 1.155 million tons of annual urea production. And the plant for the production of gasoline from natural gas in Ovadandepe will increase the capacity to 600 thousand tons of gasoline per year. By the way, this enterprise is a unique complex where, for the first time in world practice, natural gas was processed on an industrial scale into environmentally friendly gasoline that meets the requirements of the Euro–5 standard," Niyazlyev noted.

In the near future, it is planned to build a number of modern investment projects for the deep processing of natural gas, the production of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers, iodine–bromine products, caustic soda and chlorine, as well as the complex development of hydromineral resources of the Garabogaz Bay," the Chairman of the Turkmenhimiya Group of Companies said in his speech.
