Turkmen shippers can now use electronic invoices
Turkmenistan has joined the Additional Protocol to the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR) concerning the electronic waybill, so that any document specified in the regulation can be issued using electronic means of communication.
The law on joining the additional protocol of the CMR was signed by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and published on Saturday in the official Turkmen press.
This means that an electronic waybill conforming to the Protocol will be equivalent and have the same evidentiary value as a regular waybill, which will greatly facilitate cargo turnover and the transfer of goods from one person to another. To ensure the identification of the parties, such a document provides for an electronic signature.
