Vietnam-Kazakhstan direct rail flight launched
The first train on the route from Vietnam to Kazakhstan was launched on December 31. Went from the Nha Trang railway station to Almaty city, in the dry port of Xi'an in eastern China, he underwent the replacement of wheel sets for a different track. Then the train was sent to Kazakhstan by China-Europe express. The main goods it transports are electronic components.
According to China Central Television (CCTV), in the past, most of the electronic components produced in Vietnam were delivered to Central Asian countries by sea. The whole process took more than 50 days. The launch of a direct rail flight can shorten the route from Vietnam to the Central Asian market to about 25 days.
Since the meter gauge is used in Vietnam, replacing it with the Chinese standard gauge takes a lot of time. However, one of the ambitious projects in Vietnam is to change the gauge to increase Sino-Vietnamese trade.
The announcement ceremony of the upcoming opening of the Vietnam-Kazakhstan direct route took place on October 12, 2022 in Astana as part of a working visit to Kazakhstan by the Vice President of Vietnam and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation participating in the 6th Summit on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia (CICA).
