The Mufti of Tatarstan played a role in a film about the Arab traveler Fadlan
The documentary feature film "Ibn Fadlan" is released in March, one of the roles in it was performed by the chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan (DOOM RT) Kamil Samigullin.
The painting is based on the travel notes of the Arab diplomat Ahmed ibn Fadlan. His journey as part of the Baghdad embassy is directly connected with the adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria in 922 as the official religion.
"For me personally, the goal was to promote the "Tugan Batyr" – the image of a Tatar warrior of a thousand years ago. I was assigned the role of a relative of Elteber (vassal, ruler) Alamush, a military commander. Now I am deeply studying the history of the Tatar sabre, which is why I agreed to participate in the historical tape. This is my first role," Samigullin told RIA Novosti.
The Mufti of Tatarstan added that he spends his free time training, noting that he has a black belt in jiu-jitsu I dan and a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
"Ibn Fadlan" was filmed by the Muslim TV channel “Khozur TV” with the participation of the Foundation for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science and Education for the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria. The consultants of the painting were the Director of the Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alikber Alikberov, Director of the Institute of History. Marjani Radik Salikhov and others.
