UN agencies and their national partners in Turkmenistan adopted a new package of documents
Today, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan signed a large package of documents on further interaction between state departments and bodies with specialized structures of the United Nations. The new documents are aimed at developing a productive partnership along the lines of priorities outlined in joint programs with UNDP, UNICEF and UNFPA for 2021-2025.
The current year, 2023, is considered by the parties as an equator in the implementation of these programs to assess the results of the overall work. The current package of documents, which includes 26 agreements between UN agencies with 19 institutions of Turkmenistan, covers a wide range of areas of cooperation. The national partners of the UN in these areas are government and public organizations, law enforcement agencies, parliament, the media and others.
In particular, the UN Children's Fund in Turkmenistan signed Work Plans for 2023 with the Mejlis, the Prosecutor General's Office, the ministries of justice, internal affairs, economy and finance, health and medical industry, education, labor and social protection, the State Committee on Statistics, the Institute of State, Law and Democracy, the Office of the Ombudsman. A common work plan for the current year has also been drawn up between UNICEF, the Committee on Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography and the Women's Union.
The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Turkmenistan signed a document on cooperation with the Turkmensvyaz Agency on further assistance in expanding the implementation of the electronic document management system, as well as specialized agreements with the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, the Office of the Ombudsman, the Society of the Blind and Deaf (in the field of employment and education of people with disabilities).
UNDP signed several documents at once with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection (on the project for the development of green cities in Ashgabat and Avaza, improving adaptation processes, sustainable development of territories in the Aral Sea basin) and with the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry.
In addition, a number of documents were adopted at the level of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the sports department, the Institute of State, Law and Democracy.
