A seminar on obtaining alternative sources of income through the application of methods and technologies for the effective use of land and water resources, as well as land use planning in the context of climate change and biodiversity conservation in the pilot region of the Lebap region was held in the city of Seydi.

Sustainable practices and innovative approaches in the field of horticulture, greenhouse farming and irrigated agriculture from the experience of previous joint projects of UNDP and the Government of Turkmenistan were presented at the meeting. The experts also demonstrated methods of zero-tillage, advantages of laser area planning and methods of biofertilizer production.

The participants of the seminar were representatives of the private sector, the agro-industrial complex, specialists of the municipalities of Dargan-Ata and Danev districts on agriculture, water resources management at the regional and district levels, workers of agricultural and livestock farms from the pilot regions of the Project, as well as experts in the field of agriculture and employees of the Amuderya State Nature Reserve.

The seminar was organized within the framework of the project "Conservation and sustainable management of land resources and ecosystems of high natural value in the Aral Sea basin for multiple benefits", implemented by UNDP jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan.
