Energy and agriculture are called promising areas of Turkmen-British cooperation
A wide range of cooperation in political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas between Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom was discussed in Ashgabat on Wednesday by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Parliamentary Deputy Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Commonwealth Affairs and Development of Great Britain, Minister Leo Docherty. The British guest arrived in the Turkmen capital on a working visit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
During the negotiations, the parties noted their readiness for further partnership in such promising areas as energy, climate change, agriculture and water management.
Rashid Meredov, emphasizing the effective development of Turkmen-British cooperation, noted that an important event in strengthening interstate ties was the participation of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the coronation ceremony of King Charles III in May this year.
The Turkmen side noted the important role of parliamentary diplomacy and, in this regard, it was proposed to intensify inter-parliamentary ties. The diplomats also confirmed positive cooperation in the fields of culture, archeology, education, and English language studies in Turkmenistan.
Following the meeting, the signing ceremony of the Protocol of Intent between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom took place.
