A group of Turkmen scientists of the Scientific Research Center of the State Medical University named after Myrat Garryev experimentally proved the possibility of using a new method of treating purulent keratitis, an eye disease that leads to a decrease, and sometimes to loss of vision. The course and results of the experiment were described in a scientific paper published in the journal Türkmenistanyń lukmançylygy.

The experiment was conducted on the basis of the SIC GMUT and the International Educational and Scientific Center. For the study, 18 heads of white pigs weighing 10-12 kg were selected, the care of which and the experiment itself were carried out within the framework of the Convention for the Protection of Vertebrate Animals Used for Experimental and Other Scientific Purposes.

Infected individuals were divided into two groups: the first were treated by the traditional method — standard antibacterial therapy, the second — by an experimental antibacterial method, together with the use of platelet— and leukocyte-enriched plasma (OTLP) taken from the ear of pigs, as well as a bandage lens, a biological bandage that repeats the relief of the cornea of the eye and passes oxygen.

The experiment took place for two weeks. On days 3, 7 and 14, the corneas of pigs from both groups were studied to compare the results, which, by the way, turned out to be impressive: the animals of the second group had accelerated epithelialization, that is, healing of damaged skin, already on the third day. And by the seventh day, the epithelial defect of the cornea was completely closed, while some damaged areas were still preserved in pigs of the first group.

At the end of the experiment, it was found that the treatment of purulent keratitis using OTLP-BL is characterized by faster healing compared to standard therapy. Thus, as scientists have established, the use of such a method of treatment is pathogenetically justified and can be recommended for implementation in the practice of ophthalmologists.
