Bamboo QR code for the online torch relay of the Asian Games was woven by a master from Huzhou
Ma Jilin, a 78—year-old hereditary bamboo craftsman, has woven a complex QR code in the form of a bamboo cloth for the online torch relay of the Asian Games, which will be held in Hangzhou from September 23 to October 8, 2023, reports Big Asia.
The master's work is included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of the city of Huzhou. He has been filigreing bamboo strips for many years, but he managed to weave a complex code only on the second attempt. The first option was not scanned.
The resulting image works flawlessly. People point the camera at the bamboo canvas — and become virtual participants of the Asian Games torch Relay.
In Decin, the district where the artist lives, several competitions of the Asian Games will be held, and the master considered it his duty to contribute to this event, the newspaper writes.
