Strong wind at a speed of 80 km/h hit Mecca

The strongest storm, accompanied by heavy rain and thunderstorms, hit several provinces in western Saudi Arabia on Tuesday evening. The main impact of the elements - winds with a speed of over 80 km / h (22.2 m / s), fell on the cities of Mecca and Jeddah, the Arab newspaper Gulf News reports.
Video footage shared by local media and social media shows how strong gusts of wind knock down passers-by - carry away Saudi citizens and foreign pilgrims, knock down trees, overturn heavy metal structures, billboards and garbage cans. In some settlements of the country, streets were flooded with rain, cars with people in them left with streams of water.
The province has declared a red alert as meteorologists assume that adverse weather conditions will continue until Thursday. Against the background of bad weather, the authorities of Mecca announced the transfer of classes in schools, colleges and universities of the kingdom to a remote format.
