The flag of Turkmenistan was unfurled by climbers on the mountain peak Chogori (8611 meters), which is the second highest mountain in the world after Everest. Among climbers, this height is known as K2 and is located in the Karakoram mountain system on the border of China and Pakistan.

It is considered one of the most difficult mountains in the world to climb due to its high altitude, difficult weather conditions and steep slopes. The climbers dedicated their ascent to the approaching 32nd anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence. Unfurling a green banner on top of the world, they congratulated the Turkmen people on the upcoming public holiday, which is celebrated on September 27.

Climbing Chogori was carried out from Pakistan. The action was attended by climbers from different countries, including Kazakhstan, Latvia and Russia. The group members have successfully climbed Big Ararat in Armenia (5,165 meters), Kilimanjaro (5,895 meters) and Meru (4,562 meters) in Tanzania, Aconcagua (6,960.8 meters) in the Andes on the border of Argentina and Chile, Mont Blanc (4810 meters) in the Alps on the border of France and Italy.

In 2019, climbers conquered the “roof of the world” Chomolungma (Everest, 8,848 meters), where they also unfurled the Turkmen flag on the top, the IIC of Turkmenistan reports.
