In France, they decided to fight reckless drivers with the help of complicated road markings

Intertwining white lines in the form of an intricate road marker appeared in France on some roads so that reckless drivers would not exceed the speed limit. Such an experimental project was launched by the Mayor's office of the city of Bon in the north-east of the country.
Such road markings create a visual disturbance and force motorists to press the brake, officials say. In this way, the city authorities are trying to secure dangerous sections of the road and "rein in" drivers accelerating up to 100 kilometers per hour at the permitted 30 km/h, and reduce the number of traffic accidents.
According to the authors of the experiment, the unusual markup turned out to be effective. Motorists began to think about the meaning of the white stripes applied to the asphalt and slow down, writes Le Courrier de l'Ouest.
