Serdar Berdimuhamedov: Turkmenistan always stands for joint solution of environmental issues

During a government meeting on Thursday, the President of Turkmenistan heard proposals for the implementation of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Paris Agreement and other documents on environmental issues, presented by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov.
As an important step in this direction, it is proposed to sign a Memorandum between the UN Environment Program, Turkmenistan and the Central Asian countries, the initial goal of which is the development of regional programs for the implementation of climate technologies, and, ultimately, the opening of a Center for Climate Technologies in the Central Asian region in the Turkmen capital.
Also, a proposal was submitted for consideration by the head of state to develop a Roadmap for Turkmenistan’s implementation of the Paris Agreement, which regulates measures to reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
Taking into account the importance of increasing environmental culture and public awareness in the environmental sector, it was proposed to hold a Youth Forum on Climate Change in Ashgabat on the eve of the Youth Conference (COY-18) and the UN Conference (COP-28) in Dubai.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved the proposals presented and instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to continue working on their practical implementation, noting that Turkmenistan always stands for intensifying international dialogue on resolving environmental issues, jointly solving environmental problems and climate change in the name of general well-being.
