Traditional autumn races started in Turkmenistan
Traditional autumn races started in Turkmenistan last Sunday. The opening of the season took place in the capital's hippodrome with a concert program - well-known dance and folklore groups, as well as pop artists performed before the start of the competition.
The International Akhal-Teke Equestrian Complex, spread over an area of 90 hectares, is the largest hippodrome in Turkmenistan. Fifty participants competed here at various distances. There were seven races, the maximum run was 2200 meters. The riders who won the first places in the races were solemnly awarded prizes.
Horse racing is one of the favorite traditions of Turkmens and traditionally takes place throughout the country. Their main goal is to popularize centuries-old traditions, involve young people in equestrian sports and preserve the unique Akhal-Teke breed of horses. And the International Horse Breeding Academy named after Aba Annaev, which was opened on September 1 in the city of Arkadag, will train highly qualified personnel for the horse breeding industry of the country. The university was built on the initiative of Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
