The transport and communication sector of Turkmenistan is the most actively developing sector of the country's economy, which opens up new opportunities for its integration into the world transport system. We especially welcome French investors and experts in this field and are ready to expand cooperation in the implementation of joint projects for the construction and modernization of infrastructure for sea, rail and air transportation, the creation and operation of satellite communication systems, Deputy Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Batyr Annayev said at a meeting with French companies in Paris.

It was noted that Turkmenistan's partnership relations with French companies have become an integral part of the development of various spheres of transport and communications in the country.

Currently, the establishment of a branch of the Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore SAS Classification Society in Turkmenistan is being considered, as well as the possibility of cooperation on certification of vessels that will be built at the Balkan shipbuilding and ship repair plant. This will improve the quality and safety of the national river and sea fleet, as well as expand its operational capabilities.

During the meeting of the Turkmen delegation with the French business, the attention of the large engineering company Alstom, one of the world leaders in the production of power equipment, was drawn to the possibilities of partnership with the Turkmen railway agency. In particular, in the field of training employees on the centralization and signaling system, since Alstom is the legal successor after the takeover of Turkmenistan's long-time partner, Bombardier, which participated in the construction of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway. This road is today a key link of the trans-Asian corridor connecting Europe and Asia.

The Turkmen side also expressed interest in investment cooperation in the field of railway transport with the French companies Geismar and Cifal, which specialize in the production of equipment for the construction and maintenance of railways.

Fruitful contacts in the aviation sector were also noted, including the acquisition by Turkmenistan of two Airbus cargo planes, which are now actively involved in international transcontinental transportation, the ongoing work on the resumption of passenger air transportation between Ashgabat and Paris.

A striking example of practical interaction is the successful cooperation with the French Thales Alenia Space in the project of creating a national communications satellite, as well as with Airbus DS GEO SA in obtaining satellite images for various sectors of the national economy of Turkmenistan.

The participation of a number of French companies such as Geismar, Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore SAS, Airbus S.A.S, Thales and others in the Ashgabat forum "International Transport and Transit Corridors: Interconnection and Development - 2023" testifies to the interest of French partners in promoting in the Turkmen market.

"We are confident that the Turkmen-French business cooperation has great potential for further development and deepening. We urge French businessmen to use favorable conditions for investment and trade in Turkmenistan, as well as to expand contacts and partnerships with Turkmen companies," the representative of the Transport and Communication Complex of Turkmenistan said.
