The city of Arkadag is preparing to host its first film festival. The creative forum "Arkadagyň şäheri" will bring together cinematographers from Central Asian countries and will be held on October 14-15.
Deputy Prime Minister Mahrijemal Mammedova reported to the President of the country about the work being done to organize this international event at a meeting of the Turkmen government on Saturday.
The main goal of the film festival is to identify young talents, develop Turkmen cinema, patriotic education of young people, as well as familiarize the international community with the unique "smart" city of Arkadag, expand fruitful cooperation with foreign partners, Mammadeva noted.
She also said that wide opportunities are being created in the country for improving cinematographic activities, organizing various events in this area and the participation of representatives of Turkmenistan in international film screenings. It can be added to this that only in the near future new Turkmen films and directors of the Turkmenfilm film studio will take part in three international festivals: the Pearl of the Silk Road in Tashkent, Gorkut Ata in the city of Shusha and Tajik "Toji Somon" in Dushanbe. Now the Turkmen city of Arkadag is also entering the festival orbit of cinema.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed at the Cabinet meeting that the upcoming film festival "will serve to further strengthen the traditionally friendly, fraternal relations between the countries and peoples of Central Asia, will contribute to the enrichment of cultural and humanitarian ties, which are an integral and important component of regional cooperation," TDH writes.
