A draft statement on support for the Russian language was prepared for the Council of Heads of State of the CIS
The draft statement states the importance of preserving the unique cultural heritage of the CIS countries and promoting the Russian language as a language of interethnic communication. Having discussed the comments and suggestions received regarding the text of the draft statement, the experts finalized and agreed on the document at a meeting held on Friday at the Commonwealth headquarters. Experts decided to submit it in the prescribed manner for consideration by the Council of Heads of State of the CIS, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports.
The draft document notes the importance of preserving and popularizing the unique linguistic, historical and cultural heritage of the CIS countries. It speaks of the importance of the Russian language in strengthening the common cultural and humanitarian space of the Commonwealth and confirms the commitment to the use of the Russian language in mutual contacts and on the platforms of international organizations and forums.
The meeting was held using video communication. Representatives of the CIS countries and the Commonwealth Executive Committee took part in its work.
Let us remind you that this year in the CIS has been declared the Year of the Russian language as a language of interethnic communication.
