An international conference with the participation of NOCPT was held in Ashgabat


On November 28, an international conference under the slogan "Principles of humanity and neutrality" was held at the Yildiz Hotel in the capital. The event was jointly organized by the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan (NOCPT) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC and KP).

The participants included representatives of the UN, a number of ministries and banks of Turkmenistan, the CC and KP movement. Experts from the regional branches of the NOCPT and representatives of the regional European office of the Federation of Movement Societies also joined the conversation.

The meeting began with introductory remarks by the Chairman of the NOCPT Maral Achilova, the head of the mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mikhail Rakhmanov, representative of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) Jeffrey Skarin, as well as IFRC and KP delegates — Pauline Kaspellan and Marcin Podlesny.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the feasibility of introducing monetary and voucher assistance (DVP) in Turkmenistan, difficulties in implementing the program and possible solutions.

During one of the sessions of the event, the participants were divided into groups with certain topics and had to propose ideas for a draft roadmap and a national action plan containing practical solutions to possible difficulties in the context of the implementation of the FIBERBOARD system in the country, and then present their best practices to the participants.

After fruitful discussions and an exchange of views on the agenda, the participants expressed their readiness to work together on drawing up a roadmap and practical implementation of the project of integrating DVP into the humanitarian sector of Turkmenistan.
