Bangladesh intends to join TAPI

Bangladesh desires to join the gas pipeline project of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) as the country needs huge volumes of gas to maintain the trend of development, said state minister for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid. According to The Financial Express, the statement came during the meeting with the non-resident ambassador of Turkmenistan to Bangladesh Parahat Durdyyev at State Minister’s office in Dhaka. TAPI gas pipeline will open a new door of potentialities in the region, said Nasrul Hamid Turkmen ambassador appreciated the interest of Bangladesh to this project and stressed the prospects of bilateral cooperation in energy sector. During the meeting, Parahat Durdyyev delivered to state minister an invitation for Conference of International Energy Charter, which will be hosted by Ashgabat on 28-29 November 2017.
