Foreign Minister of Malaysia Pays Official Visit to Ashgabat
On September 9, Monday, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with Foreign Minister of Malaysia Mohamad Hassan, who arrived in Ashgabat on an official visit at the head of his country's delegation.
"The parties discussed issues of further intensifying long-term partnership based on the principles of mutual respect and consideration of interests. The report also indicated that the diplomats noted the similarity of positions on a number of aspects of the regional and international agenda.
During the talks, the ministers discussed trade and economic ties, as well as cooperation in science, culture and tourism.
The head of the Malaysian Foreign Ministry is visiting Turkmenistan on an official visit on September 9-10 to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries. During the visit, the minister is expected to be received at the highest level, the press service of the Malaysian Foreign Ministry reported.
Mohamad Hassan's visit to Ashgabat was preceded by the fifth Malaysia-Turkmenistan bilateral political consultation at the level of senior officials, which was held on September 9.
According to the Malaysian Foreign Ministry, Turkmenistan became Malaysia's fourth largest trading partner among Central Asian countries in 2023 with a total trade volume of US$10.57 million.
