Preparations are underway in Ganja, Azerbaijan's second-largest city after Baku, for the III Games of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in 2025. This was announced by Mushfig Jafarov, a member of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan, at a plenary session.

As part of the renovation and restoration efforts in Ganja, inner-city roads are being paved and landscaping work has begun in residential areas. Plans are also in place to complete the reconstruction of the city stadium.

The parliament member highlighted the role of the Ganja Industrial Park, which is being developed by the Agency for the Development of Economic Zones under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan. The Ganja Industrial Park has the potential to significantly impact the city's socio-economic development. In addition to creating new jobs and increasing employment opportunities, it will make a substantial contribution to the development of local production and industry.

The park is expected to facilitate Ganja's emergence as an important logistics and industrial hub.

The CIS Games were established in 2018 at the initiative of the Russian Federation and aim to increase the number of citizens in member states involved in physical education and sports, as well as to promote the mutually beneficial use of sports infrastructure among CIS countries.

The Games are held every two years and last up to ten days.
