On March 5, Tokyo hosted the International Symposium on Water Issues and Natural Disasters for Cooperation and Partnership. High-ranking representatives of government agencies, international organizations, private companies and civil society took part in the symposium.

The delegation of Turkmenistan included representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Turkmen State Water Management Scientific, Production and Design Institute.

The opening of the event was attended by Emperor of Japan Naruhito.

In the afternoon, a meeting of water sector experts was held within the framework of the Central Asia-Japan dialogue.

In their speeches, representatives of our country spoke about the initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan in the field of protection and rational use of water resources, announced from high tribunes of international forums. In particular, the importance of effective water resources management in the context of achieving sustainable development in Central Asia was emphasized, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The problem of global climate change has significantly increased the pressure on water resources in Central Asia, emphasizing the priority of the tasks of careful and rational water use. In this context, transboundary water cooperation is considered a key tool for ensuring regional stability and creating favorable conditions for sustainable economic development.
