Air transport of Turkmenistan increased the transportation of goods, water transport – of passengers
There was an improvement in transportation activities in the air transport for 2017 compared to 2016. According to the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan, in last year the volume of air transportation of goods and freight turnover increased by 21.7% and 16%, respectively, compared to the previous year.
Passenger transportation by Turkmen airlines increased by 0.5%, and passenger turnover - by 9.3%. As to the enterprises of “Turkmenhovayollary” Service, including “Turkmenistan” Air Company OJSC, for 2017 the volume of revenues from realization of transport services increased by 5% compared to 2016.
As to the State Service of Sea and River Transport, including “Deniz sovda floty” JSC, in the reporting year, compared to 2016, the volume of cargo turnover, on the contrary, decreased by 15.3%. This is due to the fact that some vessels are subject to repair and recovery work and most ships transported goods by local traffic, while reducing the distance of transportation.
But, in 2017, compared to 2016, passenger turnover on water transport increased by 54.3%. Revenues from realization of transport services, provided by enterprises of this agency, increased by 2.6%.
