The Lithuanian company BOD Group, specializing in the production of solar batteries, is considering the possibility of cooperation with investors and suppliers of silicon from Asia. This, as reported in the "News of Lithuania" (obzor.lt), was discussed at a recent meeting of the head of BOD Group Vidmantas Janulevičius with Lithuanian Minister of Economy Mindaugas Sinkevičius, "The Asian region is very important from the point of view of the potential for economic cooperation not only for Lithuania, but also for Europe," the minister said. It was mentioned that investors and suppliers can include partners from China, Malaysia and other Asian countries. However, companies - consumers of silicon, prefer to keep secret information from their competitors about their purchases of raw materials. To this we can add only that Turkmenistan can be one of such potential partners. Currently, the Technology Center of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan is carrying out a promising project to develop an innovative technology for obtaining silicon from Karakum sand. As confirmed by research and practical experiments, Turkmen silicon has higher quality indicators, which can play a decisive role for the future of global energy. Few developed countries possess the technologies for silicon production, and Turkmenistan intends to take a worthy position in this sector of the world market. Especially, due to geographical advantages of its position, which is rather close to the European sector, while the largest silicon producer – China – dominates the markets of South-East Asia, where there are no other silicon producers. The BOD Group plant for the production of solar modules and panels is one of two of its kind in Europe. The second similar facility is situated in Germany.
