Larijani: Iran is ready to extend relations with Turkmenistan


The speaker of the Iranian parliament and the head of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan held a meeting in Tehran today, where the Turkmen delegation is attending the 7th Conference of Muslim Women Parliamentarians and the 13th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the Conference of OIC Member States. Akja Nurberdyeva and Ali Larijani discussed Turkmen-Iranian relations and ways to strengthen them, noting that the long traditions of the cultural dialogue of the two countries are opening up new opportunities for expanding ties for the benefit of both sides. According to Larijani, “Iranian companies are ready to negotiate with Turkmen businessmen in various economic and commercial spheres and start joint projects”. Speakers also stressed the important role of parliamentary friendship groups in increasing cooperation between the two countries. Akja Nuberdyeva confirmed Turkmenistan's interest in maturing of relations with Iran in the economic, cultural and humanitarian fields, as well as through parliamentary diplomacy.
