Turkmenistan formulated its views on the global agenda
Turkmenistan formulated its priority positions, which will be announced at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly opening soon in New York. As noted in the material on this topic, published on the website of the TDH state information agency, the cornerstone of Turkmen foreign policy is the consistent upholding of universal peace, security and stability. In particular, Turkmenistan considers it important to give substantive attention to cyber security issues and to invite the world community to intensify work in this direction. In the interests of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Turkmen side considers it expedient to use the potential of the forthcoming High-Level Political Forum "Transformation on the Way to a Sustainable and Feasible Society" in 2018. Noting the importance of sport as a key factor for ensuring sustainable development, Turkmenistan reaffirms its offer to host the seventh International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport under the auspices of UNESCO. Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of international cooperation in the transport sector and, in this regard, proposes to consider the possibility of preparing the Resolution "Development of the link between all modes of transport in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development" at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly. Also, the Turkmen side proposes to consider the possibility of declaring a year of sustainable transport at the UN level in the near future. One of the main directions of the Turkmen foreign policy is the development of international cooperation in the energy sector, as well as ensuring sustainable and equitable access to energy resources. In this regard, Turkmenistan confirms its support for the work of the international expert group on the preparation of multilateral documents in the field of energy security and the creation of a stable international energy system. At the same time, Turkmenistan will actively participate in the process of creating the organizational, legal, economic, technical and other conditions necessary for the diversification of energy sources and energy supply routes. Turkmenistan is a supporter of expanding international cooperation in the field of ecology. Taking into account Turkmenistan's chairmanship in the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS), the Turkmen side proposes to hold a summit of the heads of the founding states of IFAS with the participation of specialized international structures in Turkmenistan in 2018. Also, Turkmenistan proposes to consider the issue of establishing an international expert group, which, in cooperation with the UN, could start preparing a special Aral Environmental Program. As noted in the message of the TDH state information agency, Turkmenistan confirms its readiness for active cooperation with the UN in the implementation of the fundamental UN Conventions in the field of human rights, as well as compliance with its obligations arising from international humanitarian law. Formation of priority positions and defending them on the international arena are evidence of Turkmenistan's determination, together with the international community, to do everything necessary to strengthen peace, stability and equitable security on the planet.
