The construction of the Tajik section of the fourth branch of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline began. The so-called branch D is designed to deliver Turkmen "blue fuel" to the Middle Kingdom, passing through Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. As the Tajik Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources Jamshed Shaimzoda told media representatives, after the design process, preparatory work started in the Rudaki district, and will be conducted in accordance with real financing. The construction and subsequent use of the Tajik section of the D branch of the Turkmenistan-China pipeline are under the responsibility of the subsidiary of the Chinese national oil and gas corporation Trans-Tajik Gas Pipeline Company Ltd. The subsidiary structure was established in 2014, in accordance with the agreement between the Chinese side and the open joint-stock company Tajiktransgaz. Dushanbe is very interested in the implementation of this project, because in the future it promises significant economic benefits in the form of transit payments, tax deductions and the creation of new jobs. Only by preliminary calculations, the construction of the gas pipeline will provide work to three thousand Tajik citizens, and direct Chinese investments in the economic sector of the country will exceed 3 billion US dollars. The length of the Tajik section of the Turkmenistan-China gas main will be more than 400 kilometers and 25-30 billion cubic meters of fuel will be transported annually to the Celestial Empire. It is expected that the construction will be completed by the end of 2019. The transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-China was put into operation in December 2009. With the laying of the 4th line of the highway, the annual volume of natural gas supplies from Turkmenistan to the Middle Kingdom will amount to 65 billion cubic meters.
